In the developed world in particular, most people live in a way that tends to portray the image of “I don’t need anyone”. People have several types of insurances up until their funeral and burial rites. In these so-called “rich” countries, between their birth and their death, most people have more than their daily needs and almost all what they feel they need. As such, there is a temptation of relating with other persons only for momentary pleasures in a self-centered fashion. As a matter of reality, we all know that there is an order to what we need. Our greatest needs are not usually our immediate needs; and as social beings we can’t underestimate the power of our social links and relationships. These links and relationship cannot be insured in the sense presented by the insurance businesses. These links can only be cultivated and nurtured. When life’s challenges come knocking at their doors people who fail to cultivate or nurture such links usually fall deeper into the cracks of society’s unforgiving pits. Without any help, such people usually continue in the downward spiral of descend into despair, destruction and consequently death.
Hand-in-Hand Initiative attempts to give such persons a second chance to make it right. It is obvious that we all like to be around persons who are kind to us, who show they are interested in our lives, and who demonstrate any interest in helping us. Through the Hand-in-Hand Initiative, the love of God keeps compelling us to come alongside challenged persons, hand-in-hand, proactively confronting poverty, pain and suffering that is keeping them from enjoying a healthy living in the joy of the Holy Ghost.
