Community Health Revitalization Initiative : Introduction

Current evangelistic and outreach approaches are not achieving any significant success in local community actions because people quickly associate it with local church conversion tactics. Hence, CHRI serves to innovatively bridge such outreach and evangelistic gaps.

We currently leave in communities where people are experiencing one of the highest rates of connectivity with the rest of the world. All forms of technologies and systems of virtual connections are constantly promising to us various degrees of comfort and happiness. However, in developed societies, different statistics show that the level of loneliness experienced by people has been on an ever-increasing trajectory. People are highly connected, yet very lonely. Such kinds of loneliness are indicative of the natural nature of how humans are fashioned. Humans are social beings in the sense of physical proximity and soul-level engagements. Contemporary humans are not only expressing the desire for a deep need to relate spiritually with others around them, out of the virtual space; they are expressing an interest in leaving out different daily life choices in a manner that breaks routine and enriches their being spiritually and health wise.

“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” – 3 John 1:2; KJV.

From a Christian point of view, the Word of God and its Wisdom serves as a reservoir with a wide range of significant solutions to the problems of modern societies – including the loneliness issue. Nevertheless, people are shunning these biblical solutions, mostly because some sectors of our societies are actively working to discredit them. But for the most part, most Christian institutions themselves have failed to present the biblical message and its truth as pertaining to the victories offered by Christ Jesus for our coexistence.

Our contemporary societies are trying out different worldviews and their related lifestyles; leading to the current moral decay we are experiencing within every facet of life and living. As such, to those that realize that something different must be done to stop the decay, the ultimate challenge is how the Christian perspective could be implemented within a contemporary society in a manner that is acceptable by the needy, without being “too churchlike”. Current evangelistic and outreach approaches are not achieving any significant success in local community actions because people quickly associate it with local church conversion tactics. Hence, CHRI serves to innovatively bridge such outreach and evangelistic gaps.
